Juliehood

I’m still a widow, but now I’m also a wife, a public interest attorney, a baseball fan, and a poet.

Welcome to “Juliehood.” ‘Tis a silly place.

  1. goodness, julie . . . it has been ages since the old AAPC and ICQ days. i have fallen out of touch with everyone and now a touch of nostalgia has me attempting to locate some of the old group. fate has brought me, the carrie formerly known as a “szucs,” to you.

i see i have a great deal to catch up on here . . . in the meantime, best wishes with law school and your upcoming wedding. and know that i was always a huge fan of juliehood. 🙂

  2. Hi, Carrie. It’s definitely been a long while.

Thanks for the good luck. I need it!

    How are you doing?

  3. Warm Hello,

I am a 53-year-old undergraduate music composition student at California State U. Long Beach and I am in love with your work.

I’m enrolled in a course, “Poetry to Music,” in which we learn to analyze poems (structure, meter, meaning, tone) and set them to music (Art Songs). My sister Lorinda (who also contributed poetry) directed me to your poetry via this site: http://www.everypoet.com/poetry/general/poems_jasc/sonnet4.htm and I was wondering if you would do me the honor of allowing me to set this sonnet to music. I will make no money from this. The song would be sung in class only, unless you also gave me permission to perform it as part of my senior composition recital which would be next semester (Dec. 2018) and, again, I would make no money at the performance. I have found much inspiration in your work. Thank you.

  4. Hello again,

To add to my request from a few days ago, here is a recording of one of my compositions from the Art Song class so you can hear my treatment of text. This was my first attempt at writing an art song. It was performed at our Composers’ Guild concert.

Text: Love’s Secret by William Blake (1863)
    Soprano Anastasia Gastelum
    Piano Michael Hill

Thank you again for your consideration. <3
