  1. Thanks Carter – hubby has as strong interest in US politics ever since he watched the West Wing series.
He’s watching this with great interest (as am I – but I don’t get so excited about it!).

  2. No one should get excited. These new ‘electronic’ voting machines, made by companies headed by republican businessmen, are going to lead to many ‘surprising’ wins for a lot of republicans come election night.

“I just don’t understand it, Wolf, why so many exit polls have turned out so wrong. After fifty years of calling elections correctly, exit polling started to become unreliable in 2000 in Florida and has gotten worse every year since. And now, this complete surprise, so many exit polls wrong this 2006 election.

So, Karl Rove was right to be so positive about the republican’s strength before the election, and we still have a RED-state control of Congress. A surprise to all of us, I’m sure.”

But it won’t be a surprise to me. Not after ‘The Patriot Act’! Not after the end of Habeas Corpus. Not after Abu Graib. Not after page predators and Abramoff lackey-gate. Not after lie after lie after lie. Nothing surprises me about American politics any longer.
